Look no further because we have great opportunities available for Mental Health Specialists here at Stars Community Services.
The Mental Health Specialist in the School Based Program provides mental health services (including assessment and evaluation) and other services for children referred to this program. The Mental Health Specialist works on-site with the clients at the Elementary and Middle Schools in Alameda County. He/she acts as liaison with external agencies and functions on teams with other clinical & school staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
*Master's degree in a Mental Health Field
*Two years experience in a mental health field
*Registered Intern in California
*Preferred experience with children and/or adolescents.
*Valid California Driver's License
Specialized Skills:
*Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their parents, foster parents, care takers, schools, other staff, physicians, county agencies, other health care providers and the public.
*Demonstrated understanding of serious emotional disorders and their treatment.
*Demonstrated leadership, organization and management skills.
*Demonstrated ability to visually and audibly assess the mental status, behavior and needs of potential admissions to the program.
