Mental Health Rehabilitation Center
The Stars’ Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) will be opening soon in late 2024. Called Acacia House, it is a 16-bed, inpatient program that provides intensive support and rehabilitative services. The individuals served are 18-64 years old with mental health struggles that have necessitated placement in a state hospital or other intensive behavioral health facility. The individuals served at this level of care are considered to be at risk of displaying challenging behaviors that preclude admission to a less restrictive environment. Comprehensive behavioral health and psychiatric services are provided by a multidisciplinary team. The team supports individuals in developing the skills to become self- sufficient and increase levels of independence and functioning.
The Mental Health Rehabilitation Center sits on a new campus near Redwood City in San Mateo County. It will be one of four mental health rehabilitation centers on the new $155 million campus being constructed by the County of San Mateo. Stars Behavioral Health will operate the program on behalf of San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. The new campus is off Edgewood Road between Redwood City and San Carlos, about a half mile east of Interstate 280 next to the Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve.
